1. In a paragraph evaluate the causes of the World War I. Would you want to go to war for those causes? Why or why not?
2. One paragraph (5-7 sentences): Imagine that it is January 9, 1914 and you are living in the United States and seeing militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism develop in Europe. Write a letter or a journal entry explaining whether you think these are good reasons to go to war.

Holiday Break Assignments:
The information and skills needed to complete these projects were practiced in class throughout December. Additionally, parts of the project were assigned as classwork and/or homework before the break to hone down the amount of work that students would have to do over the break.

610, 611, and 615 - Article about Ancient Egypt
We will be making a class magazine about Ancient Egypt. Each student must submit an article about Ancient Egypt to be included in the magazine.
The article must include:
4 paragraphs
           Ancient Egypt’s geography (location, climate, physical features and natural resources)
           Ancient Egypt’s religion and how it relates to geography 
           Ancient Egypt’s economy and how it relates to geography 
           Ancient Egypt’s agriculture and how it relates to geography
A title
A map with a caption 
2 pictures with captions

First draft and final draft of paragraphs: The first drafts of the paragraphs on Egypt’s geography and religion were assigned for homework. If you did not complete them, you must complete them over the holiday break. If you did complete them, you just need to copy your paragraphs onto the final draft sheet and fix any mistakes you made.
The project was assigned, read and discussed, with time for students to ask questions on: 12/18 (615), 12/20 (611 and 610).

814 and 815 - DBQ Essay
Write an essay (at least five paragraphs) that answers the Essential Question using evidence from the documents in the packet that was given out in class. Make sure you include an introduction paragraph and a conclusion paragraph.  
Essential Question: How did ethnocentrism contribute to expansion?

Packets were distributed and the essay was assigned, read and discussed, with time for students to ask questions on 12/19.
